Review of Pain & Gain (2013) by Tristan M — 29 Aug 2014
Pain and Gain was not the great movie I expected it to be. It was supposed to be a comedy, but was lacking in that area for sure. It was funny at times, but mostly it was just dumb and over the top, proving that Michael Bay can't even make a good comedy.
The action wasnt very good either, when it happened. The begining was slow, with some weird shots and camera angles, which slowly die off as the movie progresses. The later half was far better than the first half, it got to be more interesting and amusing, but story wise it got less and less believeable.
Apparently it's based on a true story, which is possible but the movie doesn't make it seem like it could have ever happened. Overall a movie full of greed, money, drugs, weights, other wierd stuff and the overly patriotic love for America.
Unfortunately the story and great actors were wasted, and the blame falls mostly and Michael Bay.
