The original Pacific Rim is one of my favorite movies, and I had been anticipating the 2nd from the moment it was announced. Upon exiting the theater, all I could think was, "I waited five years for that.

" Uprising felt like that time I found my barbies cut up and in the garbage after I told my brother he could have them. Steven S. DeKnight, with his pretentious middle initial, took something I loved, cut its' tits off and threw it into the garbage because he had no affection or appreciation for it himself.

Everything that made me unexpectedly fall in love with the original is gone from this sequel. It was like watching a movie given to a hyperactive 9-year-old boy. It was just moving very expensive toys around onscreen.

Dialogue was purely expository. I mean, who's ever heard of exploring a theme to give depth and meaning to a film. Clearly not Steven S. I didn't care about any of the new characters - there were too many of them and their dialogue was too busy explaining the subpar plot to give me any sense of who they were.

It's not like the original film was primarily about people and the exploration of their bonds and relationships or anything, Steven. No, I guess it was just about robots and sometimes kaiju moving around onscreen, hitting each other on occasion.

And elbow rockets. People liked that last time, right? Even the animation they so heavily relied on was lacking. Without Guillermo's direction, the animation team settled on things looking 'good enough.

' There wasn't enough weight to the robots and their movements didn't match up with the jaeger pilots. Steven S. also managed to make a world that had felt so vast and real feel like the set of a tv show with his framing of the robots/monsters and his lack of understanding their appeal.

And the fight scenes were so boring. No build. No connection to why any of the fights meant anything. This film has no soul. They literally gave Gipsy two hearts. And he did the previous cast so dirty.

This garbage fire isn't even canon in my opinion. I think the entire world would be fine pretending that this sequel didn't happen if Legendary wanted to give it another shot. I remember feeling so insulted sitting in that theater, thinking how stupid the writers and director must think I am.

After Mako, I nearly got up and left - and sort of wish I had. I cannot believe that when the last edit was complete, everyone sat down, watched this film through and thought, "Yeah. People are gonna love this.

I'm so proud of this film we made together." Unacceptable.
