Review of Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018) by Paul T — 28 Jun 2018

I've watched Pacific Rim three times and have enjoyed it more after each viewing. The sequel, however, will not be getting multiple viewings. I went into this not interested in the plot or character development and just wanted some fun kaiju vs jaeger action.

After a while of bad humour, cliches, and dealing with characters I did not care about, we got to the battle and I got some, but very little enjoyment from the fight sequences because it got repetitive and the trailers revealed way too much.

The movie was too ambitious and we got a convoluted plot where I think it would've been best just to keep it simple. John Boyega proves he can still shine even when the dialogue and story don't do him any favours.
