Review of Pacific Rim (2013) by Khoo I — 21 Mar 2018
Watching this before pacific rim 2 comes out in cinemas. Was skeptical at first that this would be yet another 'guy' movie with pretty much just destruction and explosion scenes. But, PR managed to integrate the heart matter, (family, love, friendship) through its intriguing & diverse cast with backstory depth which made the movie plot worth following, Although kikuchi's performance was slightly awkward at times, she was well complemented by her fiercely kind father figure, Elba.
Something about his demeanor/personality just made me admired the commitment he had to 'not gain sympathy, but be a fixed point in a time of crisis & the last man standing'. Great words.
