Review of Pacific Rim (2013) by Santiago T — 07 Jul 2014
This beautifully photographed film perhaps plays best with the volume stuck on mute. Offering some of the most cringe-worthy, agonising dialogue the genre has ever had to offer ('That's my son you've got there.
My son.'), 'Pacific Rim' is an overlong, overblown and essentially boring action caper. It is (only just) watchable for its action sequences and entertaining performances from Charlie Hunnam and Charlie Day, who do their best with the lazy material on offer.
An overall disappointment, though its target audience will no doubt respectfully disagree.
