Review of Pacific Rim (2013) by Tommy M — 10 Dec 2014
Pacific Rim Movie Review!
Damn it, it's good to see another Kaiju movie that's good.
The story about a future where a gaping rift forms in the Pacific ocean and monsters come out of it. Giant robots are then created to fight back such creatures.
I don't particularly love all the choices for the casting of the movie, but most of them are quite alright. The visuals are nice, the monsters themselves are just awesome, and its story-line is acceptable; while it might be accompanied by several tropes of cinema.
I don't understand why there needs to be a romance or love story in this kind of film, but, it's Hollywood. What can you do? And honestly, why does the heroes *always* have to win on these kind of things?
Finally, my only dislike is just the rushed ending. Scenes approaching the end are just very poor compared to the rest of the movie; which kind of hurts it in the end. But bottom line, it's not a bad movie at all. It just could've been better,.
Let's see what the future holds for the sequel!
A solid 8 out of 10! (4 stars) Well deserved!
