Review of Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) by Dusty L — 02 Dec 2014
I put this movie off for some time because, let's face it, you start messing with a beloved classic like The Wizard of Oz, you know you can't mess it up. Now I heard a lot of bad things and as much as I may enjoy James Franco, I was skeptical of him being cast as Oz.
So, I finally watched it, and though not the masterpiece the 1939 classic is, it wasn't a bad film by any means. The fact is no one is going to accept this film as the Wizard of Oz no matter what.
Visually, the film was stunning. It taught lessons, the acting was alright. The down side in my eyes was the lack of music. To say the least, it was an interesting film and I did enjoy it.
