Review of Overnight (2003) by Sheila M — 09 Feb 2006
This is the documentary on Troy Duffy, the director of my favourite film, The Boondock Saints. It tells his story, and how he became an overnight success, and blew it all away so quickly. He got a big budget deal from Alliance (I think it was), for the movie and also his band The Brood.
It all just went to his head so quickly he ruined it for himself and the film deal was canceled. No one else wanted to touch his script after that so he took a small deal. He ruined his friendships, family, everything in the process.
It was intense. He's really nuts! I think that if the original film deal stuck, The Boondock Saints would have been such a huge success like you wouldn't believe. I'm quite content with it being a great cult flick though.
So I'm grateful for it being what it is now.
