Review of Overboard (2018) by Frank A — 09 May 2018
I loved this film. It doesn't stray too far from the original storyline but is still able to create some refreshing new laughs. It's a simple straight forward romcom with out apology. Anna Faris as the working class mom was great but Eugenio Derbez as the selfish, spoiled, rich playboy stole the show.
His character had the longest way to go and it was hilarious watching him. I won't spoil it here but his take on being a, "short, fat, slut." was just as funny to me as Goldie's in the original.
It was also nice to see Faris sit back a little and play the "straight" guy for the other cooky characters to shine around her. Lastly while there is so much talk about building walls going on out there it is inspiring to watch a movie that shows a little shared humanity in the context of humor.
