Review of Over the Hedge (2006) by Erik G — 25 Jan 2012
They're taking back the neighborhood one snack at a time. 'Over The Hedge' centers on a mischievous con-artist raccoon named R.J. and a sensitive turtle named Verne, who worries that spring has come and there's not enough food for everyone.
Suburban housing development is encroaching on their forest home - just one green spot on the map - so R.J., Verne, and their woodland friends - porcupines, opossums, a female skunk, and a nervous squirrel - team together to go past the hedge, co-exist, and exploit the suburbs.
What are they looking for? Food. And while they hunt for food from house to house, our furry friends must face a weed-whacking animal exterminator and a neurotic house owner. I see Over The Hedge as a fun, cute flick, especially with the great computer-generated (CG) graphics that match the quality of their creators courtesy of Dreamworks ('Shrek', 'Madagascar').
There are good comedic moments, too, and I liked it! :).
