Review of Outland (1981) by Peter F — 22 Jul 2007
A hidden gem of a film. Jerry Goldsmith's score is wonderfully dark and grim whilst Connery puts in a sterling effort as O'Neill. Notice how all of Hyams' films have a character called 'Spota', also the scene where one of the miners goes mental and goes down to the surface without a suit is built up superbly, as is Steven Berkoff going apeshit with the prostitute.
It loses a star for some dire effects (the scenes where people turn into balloons and explode are very poorly done). A very good film nonetheless.
