Review of Outland (1981) by James M — 28 Sep 2013
Takes place on Io, the moon of Jupiter at a mining operation. A new marshal (Sean Connery) arrives to oversee crime-prevention on the moon, but his wife leaves him soon after their arrival. :-( The marshal investigates the recent deaths of a handful of miners.
He discovers a drug ring which is being supported by the main guy in charge. The drugs are used to help them work harder longer and faster. A team of assassins is sent to kill the marshal when he disrupts the drug trade.
First a mystery, then a "Western." Decent outer-space film that didnt seem to rip-off the immensely popular at-the-time (and still so) Alien or Star Wars.
