Review of Outland (1981) by Doug J — 04 Jun 2010
Outland was good. I couldn't help but chuckle at the cheesy sets and hokey, non-futuristic technology lol. The head explosions weren't as cool as Total Recall and the story was just...yechhh! Okay, so Connery finds a drug smuggling op going on in the mining colony on the Jupiter Moon: IO.
Wow, really, a drug smuggling operation! thats it! no aliens! no killer androids!? just drugs that look like big packets of kool-aid! really! An older sleeper sci-fi with some catchy elements and dialog.
Connery holds most of the movie together. It is always hard for me to stay awake for the last 15 min! lol. Kinda pointless, kinda cheesy, kinda cool. You figure that in a distant future where humans have already made it to the moons of Jupiter to excavate for minerals that we would at least have better technology for weapons instead of just shotguns! 3 starz.
