Review of Outland (1981) by Grayson D — 04 Jun 2011
Surprisingly good Sci-fi with Sean Connery as the marshall trying to create some order in a mining city on one of the moons of jupiter.
You get many genres at the same time here. Science Fiction, Thrliller, Dystopia, Drama, Action and a kind of Western-feeling. Not so strange since the script basically is the same as High Noon of 1952. But it really works.
Good cast, Peter Boyle should be remembered from theese kind of movies instead of those lame tv-series he made part of later in his life. He plays the bad guy excellent.
Connery is a bit laid back. He's not the superhero in Outland although he's the only good guy, a very humane performance indeed.
This movie has been in the shadow of so many other movies, but it's really worth the wile to check out.
