Review of Out of Africa (1985) by Elliott F — 14 May 2010
Beautiful cinematography and a brilliant score from the always reliable John Barry aren't enough to save this movie. Meryl Streep and Robert Redford have excellent chemistry together, and act their hearts out in this one.
However, it moves at the pace of drying paint, and a relatively flat screenplay doesn't help. While it's not an all-around terrible film, it manages to go nowhere fast, leaving us with over 2 and a half hours of a bland romance.
