Review of Out of Africa (1985) by Charlotte M — 16 Apr 2010
Meryl Streep is a goddess. But that's not news. The film, set on Africa's majestic plains, was a bit on the long side, but the story was compelling, and beautiful. Robert Redford was terrific opposite Meryl.
The other great characters in the film were those of the native people. I was surprised at how much of their story was told, more so in the moments that weren't focused on them. They're faces told a tale all their own.
It was very moving. A lovely film. Well done, Mr. Pollack!
