No 2 in my top 100, filmed at the hight of the cold war this movie is an ingenius parody of the 'spy' genre, Alec Guieness is in great form as the bumbeling Havana hoover salesman Wormold, accosted by the pompous british spy who is setting up a caribbean network, played magnificently by Noel Coward.
''The more secretive a secret the more they belive, invent'' this quote by the character Hasselbacker says it all, When Wormolds lies start becoming true and people start to die things get tense, this movie is hilariously funny and has many classic scenes culminating in an extreamly interesting way to play checkers.
