Review of Our Man in Havana (1960) by Max M — 24 May 2009
Set in pre-Castro Cuba, a British vacuum cleaner salesman is reluctantly recruited by the British secret service to not only be an agent but to recruit others. He makes up phony information and agents, but things backfire on him when his agents start dying.
Alec Guinness, Burl Ives, and Noel Coward deliver top-notch performances, especially Ives as an expatriate German doctor. Not a bad movie, slightly below The Lavender Hill Mob and The Man in the White Suit.
