Review of Our Little Sister (2015) by C A — 23 Nov 2017
It's always nice to see Hirokazu Koreeda movies. They are taking me to a total different culture, often shown with drama in otherwise fascinating settings that make me wanna visit the place. I think I have seen four or five of his films now, but sadly this is the poorest effort I have seen from the man. It's not a bad film, though. It's solid in many ways, but I never dig the story. He is better at drama stuff.
Three sisters, reaching from 25-35 or something is sharing a house. They get to know their half sister, and she moves in with them also, just at 13 years of age. They share a lot of time together, they have some fun together and figure as a pretty normal family. There are some big family issues here, that I never find interesting, and the humor is never hitting off for me. The acting is fine, the shots are fine and the pace and story ain't bad either. It's the total that fail to grip me. It never really engage me enough to be more than slightly above average.
6 out of 10 sparklers.
