Review of Our Idiot Brother (2011) by Zachary J — 11 Jan 2012
We realize that Indian families miss out on major healing when Ned, man child, brother to Miranda, Natalie and Cindy, utters those three words (via his kid cousin-bro) when they visit him in prison. The timing of these three words in the movie, is so apt, that I have begun to think that there is a time with everyone's family, when one should exercise the same words, looking them straight in the eye.
Ned is deservedly stupid here. He is honest beyond comfort and loves a dog he calls willie nelson. His sisters look more human though and live unexciting sober lives. Nelson, out on parole, after selling dope to a uniformed policeman, has come back home to spend time with his famliy and to get his dog back. We have seen close to double digit movies like these. But,Sporting a Lebowski getup, Paul Rudd sparkles as Ned and makes us feel we haven't.
I have noted down his getup for my late thirties.
Long hair, nice goatee, T-shirts with a slack shirt on top. Bermudas or Jeans.
Slip-ons. Yeah! He's got Green shades and is unmarried.
