Review of Orphan (2009) by Joseph C — 13 Jan 2012
Rarely, if ever, in modern Hollywood are you treated to something that really strikes at your core. This movie is one such movie. It's more than just your average slasher/slaughter/killer movie that have, unfortunately, plagued the silver screen since the early '90s at least.
This film, instead, is a throwback to what horror films used to be. It has it all: a deep story, interesting and believeable characters, and that dark air that gives you that unsettling feeling deep in the pit of your stomach.
If you love horror movies, and I mean true horror movies, not that overly gory, slasher infested garbage most people consider horror, then definitely check this one out. It's great. Minus one star for getting under my skin so easily.
