Review of Orphan (2009) by Mike T — 03 May 2015
Kind of average, it was good for what it was, but there were some truly incomprehensible parts - almost retarded - that were hard to sit through. It had an explosive ending and some true scares if you are interested in dark, seedy movies which I am not and found this a challenge though will admit for the right audience they might consider this great stuff, or good entertainment.
I just found it too immature, even though it was very watchable and certainly a more memorable one from 2009 which produced a lot of horror and comedies and not a lot of monster action movies with explosions, so for a 2009 year of movies in which mostly dark, serious and dusty movies were released, this was one of the more engaging ones.
For what it was and the time period it was released. It was actually quite good & was one of a kind, for 2009, it was up in my top 10. Just pure fun/goofy/scares. It was great. Lots of action and plenty of pulpy scares, with a twist ending, and a haunting/childish/visceral experience that sticks with you.
It was great, in hindsight. Great piano soundtrack. 5 stars for thrills, chills, scares, entertainment, excellence, surprise, and it-factor (just a darn good movie - very salty and creepy, very very cool & different - just a coldness too that was very icy and chilly for great theater experience, go watch this movie it's one of the best!) I love this movie.
It was an amazing and mind numbing experience with huge heart and wonderful soundtrack. I thought this was very very good. A nine out of ten for being not quite as good as the perfect Conjuring, but comes close to that level with amazing soundtrack and pitch perfect and scary acting.
This movie was a nutty one. Totally bizarre and off kilter, off the chain. Excellent nine out of ten movie for being a wonderful experience. For this pop drinker jerk.
