Review of Ordinary People (1980) by Shiori K — 16 Aug 2010
Absorbing, intelligent drama that hits home to anyone that relates to it. Desevedly Best Picture, this isn't about action or even suspense, though it moves along pretty well.
This is just about people trying to get by every day after a loss in the family. Robert Redford directs this mulit-Oscar winner.
Somber, even depressing film that draws us into the world of the near rich family that are anything but ordinary, materially that is. These folks party and have all those expensive golf trips. All the while their youngest son has not gotten over greiving for his lost older brother and the mother's rejection. All need psychiatric help as the father comes to realize.
Avoid this film if you are not interested in drama about family relationships.
