Review of Ordinary People (1980) by Stephen E — 18 Feb 2013
Robert Redford's "Ordinary People" is a somber, solemn, poignant drama that almost takes the form of a stage play at times, but that never makes it feel like any less of a film. The acting from Donald Sutherland, Mary Tyler Moore, Timothy Hutton and Judd Hirsch is nothing short of amazing, and it's their multi-layered performances that give the film a majority of its emotional complexity.
It ends without much closure, which is kind of aggravating, but "Ordinary People" is still an important, powerful film.
