Review of Ordet (1955) by Matt K — 05 Dec 2007
Two "Christian" farmer-neighbors squabble over whose sect is right, completely ignoring the fundamental principle of loving other people as they love themselves. They mutually forbid the marriage of their children (the son of one to the daughter of the other, who love each other) on religious grounds.
An unusual deus ex machina saves the day, and everyone learns a valuable lesson about being truly Christian. The most beautifully-filmed B&W film I've ever seen.
