Review of Ordet (1955) by Terri H — 07 Oct 2008
Wow. What an experience.
This seemed slow and tedious in the beginning but by the end I was teary eyed and satisfied beyond belief. Dreyer directs this film with so much care. All the characters are so well developed and wonderful. The cinematography is wonderful especially the scenes outside. The lighting it great which I kinda expected since Dreyer's other film, Gertrud, is the best lit film I have ever seen. It's an altogether wonderfully crafted film that will no doubt move you(I'm basing this off of if you have a heart or not). The ending is one of the best ever in cinema.
P.S. - Just because this film is about faith, doesn't mean that you should avoid if it you are not into religion. I don't consider myself religous at all but was still deeply moved by this film.
