Review of Oranges and Sunshine (2010) by Dan B — 17 Jan 2011
What could (and should) be a powerful story ends up packing less of an emotional punch than the kind of magazine article you might read in a dentistâ(TM)s waiting room, as a result of leaden storytelling, banal dialogue and an almost complete absence of characterisation.
Not entirely without its moments (most of which involve David Wenham), but itâ(TM)s certainly not worth a trip to the cinema. Or indeed the effort to switch channels to find it when it appears on television.
Given the directorâ(TM)s heritage, itâ(TM)s tempting to go into a diatribe about nepotism, but frankly thatâ(TM)s the least of the movieâ(TM)s problems.
