Review of Oppenheimer (2023) by Hoosll — 27 Jul 2023
How do you tell a story when history has recorded the ending. This is an amazing character study about what it is to be a theoretical scientist in academia as well as a project manager for one of the most important secret projects in modern history.
Robert Downey, Jr., is remarkable as a fragile man propelled along by ambition and revenge. All the acting is outstanding and the soundtrack moves the audience's emotions to crescendos. I took my grandsons (14 and 16 years old).
They couldn't stop talking about the story, the characters, and the moviemaking. I appreciated the black/white device which defined the time jump and allowed the story to be told in "real time" and in "past time.
" I wish the female characters had had larger roles (are they on the cutting room floor?) but their fleeting presence gives a tacit view of his personal side. Einstein device was masterful.
