Review of Operation Finale (2018) by J R — 31 Aug 2018
Surprisingly un-moving. Not an effective commentary on the holocaust, not a good depiction of the planning or investigation of the operation, and not a character study of the agents or Eichmann. The screenplay almost seems crafted to give each member of the ensemble cast a chance to act a bit.
The score was particularly amateurish and distracting in places, almost if it was selected from a menu... suspenseful scene - column A, triumphant scene - column B, scene with Nazis - Column C. Particularly jarring was the scene of the El Al flight departing - the score went from suspense to triumph in a split second.
It was near the end of the movie so maybe the editors decided by that time "enough of this editing stuff".
