Review of Opera (1987) by Settimio P — 20 May 2008
I liked this film a lot.The direction seemed inspired and the story quite clever, especially the scene where the two persecuted girls can't decide who is the cop and who is the assissin. All appears to fall into place and when the crows become part of the story I was so pleased with Argento's genius.
The ending proved a bit nonsensical, although it gave a different view of the main character, also the random voiceover could have been easily replaced with the character's own voice,as it wasn't consistent in the film.
Nonetheless the imaginary of Opera is admirable, this goes among other Argento's favourites like Deep Red and Suspiria.
