What made the first one freaky was that they were in the ocean filled with sharks and other sea creatures. These were the characters worst enemies.
In OW2 their worst enemy is their intelligence. I couldn't tell you a way to get back on the boat during the movie, but every death could have been easily prevent if the characters thought what they were doing through.
And again can I ask what ocean they are in that has no fish? Tell me. It really ruins the experience and realism.
