When Westerns were out of fashion Kevin Costner fought tooth and nail to get this one financed. It paid him back in spades. Open Range is a classic - the final shootout has to be one of the greatest on screen.
It is a complete mystery to me why this one didn't get more critical acclaim, but the audiences loved it, non the less.
