Review of Open Range (2003) by Sofia J — 14 Nov 2008
The western genre is alive and as varied and complex as ever. Ranging from the straight forward gun fest to the introverted drama. It's enough to read the cast list of this movie to know it's going to be something out of the ordinary; Robert Duvall, Annette Bening, Michael Gambon, and none of them disappoint.
This is a story about a time and place that brought out the very best and the very worst in people, who you are is what you do with what you've been given. Nice balance and a good flow, offers both gun fights and more reflective scenes.
A very good western.
