Review of Open Range (2003) by Graham H — 16 May 2008
Open Range (2003).
So what's it about? A former gunslinger is forced to take up arms again when he and his cattle crew are threatened by a corrupt lawman.
My thoughts on the movie? One again Kevin Costner shows that his directorial skills are just as good as his acting skills if not better. This movie kept a nice steady pace and was concluded very well I thought, there was some amazing cinematography at times and all members of the cast put in solid performances with Robert Duvall excelling the most while looking very comfortable in his part. A very solid modern day western movie that seems to get overlooked, it is quite an old fashioned type of western which doesnt really spring into life until the end but it was an enjoyable watch none the less.
Most memorable quote: "We come for justice, not vengeance. Now them is two different things. ".
Rating: 4/5.
