Review of Open Grave (2013) by Annette A — 07 Dec 2013
I'm only awarding this movie 5 stars because I can't give it 100. This is absolutely the ***BEST*** horror/thriller movie EVER. It opens with a man who wakes up in a huge pit of dead bodies. He has no idea who he is nor how he got there.
With the aid of a stranger he gets out and comes to a house with a few other people who only know their name because of their respective drivers licenses. There are dead bodies all over the place. These survivors have no idea if the people they are with are the ones who caused this disaster and are torn between trust and distrust with each other.
As they search the area they begin to pick up clues and snapshot memories begin to come to them. The thing that sucks you into the film is that you're pulling your hair out the whole time wanting to know what the hell is going on and are as frustrated and scared as the movie's characters.
You know what they know as they know it. I think most Americans will hate the ending but I thought it was pure genius. As someone who is not really into this genre, I was amazed at how good it was. Happy I turfed Hunger Games II for this.
Guys, if you want your partners to be clinging to you through an entire movie - take them to see this. You'll have to peel them off of you at the end -- or vice versa. This movie is my favourite film of 2013.
