Review of Open City (2008) by Scott C — 16 Feb 2013
In the waning days of World War Two, the German military is savagely and desperately trying to retain control of the city. In their way are the men and women committed to helping the resistance. Do they do nothing and wait for the Americans to arrive? Or do they fight back , knowing they are very likely to be captured and subsequently brutally tortured to death? Rosselini's harrowing film is not for the timid or overly sensitive.
