Review of Only the Strong (1993) by Jeff B — 17 Nov 2008
I watched this movie all the time when I was young, so I was surprised to see this on TV the other day. The typical "guy has to turn a bunch of bad students into good students" and filled with all the cliches.
The teacher (bug-eyed Mark Dacascos of the masterpiece Double Dragon) teaches a bunch of bad kids the martial art "capoeira" which is sort of a dance. Of course, after about a day of teaching them they all become great students and happen to master the art.
But the film's not that bad, the fighting scenes are pretty good and the acting really isn't that bad. Plus the music is pretty good (and now you'll know where Mazda stole that Zoom Zoom music from).
