Though its often agonizing sense of self-importance, one-dimensional characters, and ridiculously slow pace make it pretty tough to sit through, Only God Forgives is a moderately appealing entry in Nicolas Winding Refn's filmography, with absolutely stunning cinematography, fantastic performances from Ryan Gosling and Kristen Scott Thomas, and a great deal of intriguing, deep-rooted symbolism.
