Review of Only God Forgives (2013) by Grandpajoe6191 — 09 Mar 2016
A follow up to Nicholas Winding Refn's previous film "Drive", "Only God Forgives" is a aesthetically masterful and vivid film that has Julian, a notorious drug dealer in the Thai underworld played by Ryan Gosling, searching vengeance for his brother's death as he begins an ultra-violent journey of blood and tears throughout the film.
Again, like "Drive", the editing and visuals of film, is unique and artistic, but once you peel off the covers there really isn't anything special, as a lack of explanation of the story or direction of how the film would cohesively flow really baffles the audience time to time.
Overall, it's a good film but fails to reach its potential to become a great film.
