Review of Only Angels Have Wings (1939) by Jack W — 12 Aug 2010
An excellent film. It all starts with the stars, Grant, Arthur and Hayworth. You can't take your eyes off of them the entire film. Hayworth especially steals the show as she is just beautiful. Grant is his usual charming self and Jean Arthur is stunning.
The story is flat at times but there are instances that more than make up for them. At 1.06 into the film the aerial sequence is just amazing and part of a great job of cinematography throughout the film.
Hawks direction is masterful with some scenes just very well put together. Just another great classical period film!
