Review of Onibaba (1964) by J C — 16 Mar 2008
An expression of human eroticism. The characters are reduced to a primitive state, in which the pleasures of the flesh and the passion for survival are the only factors. Set in grass fields, which seem to reflect on the emotions of the characters.
The overall effect is of a metaphor on human nature. The ending, although campy and fun, seems abrupt, especially after the final plot point, which happens quite late in the picture. I wouldn't say this is a great film, but it's worth watching.
