Review of Onibaba (1964) by Ben W — 09 Mar 2010
A japanese fable translated to modern storytelling. it starts low and only spirals down from there. two women try to survive wartime by killing lost samurai and looting their bodies and weapons. they are scraping by until a man shows up and threatens the delicate balance they live in by becoming desirable to the younger of the two women, prompting an extreme reaction from the other.
a tale of very real moral desperation.
