Review of Ong Bak 2 (2008) by Nicholas G — 17 Oct 2009

First off, I am a massive ong bak fan which in turn may have raised my expectations of the second one. the fact that it is also thailands biggest movie with respect to the budget spent this movie (so I'm informed) is utterly shocking. the non existent story line lost me from the start & the lack of depth with the characters, for me, had a knock on effect with the fight scenes. compared to early jaa & even a lot of other modern martial arts movies, the fighting lacked any sort of emotion or point for less of a better word.

I know these sorts of movies are not based around their strength & depth of story but the fight scenes were shallow & void of any backbone. a simple case of jaa going through the motions & showcasing his ability even though we know, & impressed, with what he can produce.
