Review of One Missed Call (2008) by Markus L — 04 Jul 2009
Quite an all right horror movie. Although I haven't seen the original Japanese version, this one wasn't too bad at all.
The idea itself is pretty awesome. A series of chained events keep happening, where each person gets a call from someone they know who died already. Just when they pick it up they get a voice message from their future selves and it is always their last words before they're supposed to die.
It had a very similar kind of formula to most other horror films of that type, i.e. all main character's friends die off and just when their turn comes, they go on a mission to find out what's killing everyone off.
The movie definitely had a good suspense which relied both on psychological element of horror and also the jumpy moments. The ending was pretty all right too. It doesn't exactly end where you think it might, so that's good.
All in all, I thought it was an all right horror movie, better than many others, but does not exactly shine too much.
