Review of One Missed Call (2003) by Leo K — 11 Nov 2008
Get ready, because Takashi Miike's One Missed Call is nearly two hours of plot build-up, plot build-up, and MORE plot build-up! God, this movie went so slow and dragged for so long; I honestly thought I was never going to finish it.
Miike ventures into mainstream, youth-orientated horror about mysterious phone calls made to people by themselves mere seconds before their impending death. When there were horrific and chilling moments, this movie was amazing.
I was instantly engaged again, but then it would drag on and on and on and on, but then another cool horrific moment would happen, and then drag on and on. Miike has done better, much better. I really wanted to like this more, but oh well.
I'm still willing to bet that this was better than that shit-flavored Americanized remake.
