Review of One Missed Call (2003) by Snail * — 22 Jul 2007
Takashi Miike sets out to make the mother of all horror movies with this and, while the scares are of the popcorn variety (none will stay with you after you turn the lights back on), this is still an entertaining flick.
Miike crams in as many (unoriginal) ideas as he can - technology going awry aided by an evil spirit, child abuse, people's fascination with reality tv shows - and twists them upside down, yet still manages to pull off an oddly sweet ending.
Brilliant.
