Whilst the concept of the film is creepy and deranged Romanek also makes the watcher feel empathy for Sy even though he is twisted, though twisted as he seem's harm is not what he intends to cause but to fill the hole in his life where his family should be.

Though the film seems the fizzle out towards the end and the final climax seem's disappointing and meaning-less.. You kinda feel like "huh is that it?... I want the last 30 minutes of my life back".

.. Robin William's performance is excellent in this though and unlike many movies I never checked how long was left at any point...
