Review of One Hour Photo (2002) by Sean D — 09 Feb 2016
One Hour Photo is Crazy, Creepy, Disturbing, Good, Nuts and yet 100% pure Robin Williams. And I know what you're saying. No way, this isn't the Robin Williams I know. He's so jovial and funny. Well his voice can play a deep and dark role and he just flat out nailed it. Not going to lie, not going to beat around the bush. The rating takes a hit because it feels a little dragged on and redundant.
For a while, you get the purpose of the film and it just keeps going on. The lesson, if a little confusing at first is well portrayed and I like how you're lead to believe one thing that ends up being another. It tugs the audience and pulls you in different directions. Moving on, do you feel sympathetic of not for our well, anti-hero if I can even call him that.
Things could gave definitely been done better and much less creepy. He helps out a family he cares deeply about but he goes about it all wrong. Is he imagining the visions we see or they are just dreams. So much more could have become of our lead if he just was more social. What happened to his friends and family? The film just left me with more questions than answers. It's a brilliant film nonetheless and it should be watched, especially if you're a Robin Williams fan.
