Review of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) by Stefan G — 10 Aug 2013
This is one of the most highly regarded films in the history of American cinema. For once, I can actually see why it's seen as a good movie. The plot is interesting, and rich with metaphor, all of which is executed in a clever and entertaining way.
The film sports a vibrant cast of madmen who just get madder as the film reaches toward its conclusion, and the insanity seen near the end of the film results in powerful drama, and the film's presentation isn't bad either.
Overall, the only real flaw is that sometimes, albeit on rare occasions, the film can be a bit disturbing, be it with violence, or the torturing of McMurphy. However, I respect the fact that this is part of the film's artistic intent as an indictment of the established order.
