Review of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) by Tanner B — 21 Mar 2015
-IGNORE THIS "OUT OF FIVE" RATING.
4/4.
One of the most effective and beautifully acted films ever made. Nicholson, monumental as patient at mental institution who forms rebellion against head nurse Fletcher. An extraordinarily supercharged movie going experience in every way; world class performances, direction, screenplay (Lawrence Hauben and Bo Goldman, from Ken Kesey's novel). Incredibly impassioned, absolutely unforgettable movie that's guaranteed to make even the most masculine viewers bawl. Five Oscars went straight to Best film, Forman's masterful direction, Nicholson, Fletcher, and Screenplay. Arguably the high point of Nicholson's career (it's his best performance). [R].
